Do you pierce children's ear lobes?
Unfortunately not. Redbridge council doesn't let me go near anyone under 16 with a needle, even for lobe piercings. That said, a needle is definitely the way to go (find out why piercing guns aren't safe here)! Will it hurt?
Quite simply, yes. It's a needle going through your skin. The good news is it's just a quick pinch and often the anticipation is worse than the actual thing.
Can I bring my own jewellery to get pierced with?
I'm afraid not. Healing piercings require high quality body jewellery for a smooth healing process. All the jewellery used in the studio is designed specifically for body piercing and made from biocompatible materials such as implant grade titanium and solid gold before being polished to a high standard to ensure a smooth finish. You may not know what your jewellery is made of and if it will be compatible with the body's healing process. Even if you do and could be sure, it's not something that would be covered by the studio's insurance.
How long does it take to heal?
It depends what piercing you get and who you are. Everyone heals at their own rate and while there are rough guidelines I can give you, you might fall outside of that. You can't put a time on healing. That said, it's longer than most people expect (i.e. not 6 weeks)
How do I look after my new piercing?
All clients are given aftercare information and sent an aftercare guide.
Why are the bars so long?
Fresh piercings have some initial swelling so longer bars are used to accommodate for this. After the intial swelling has subsided (usually a couple of weeks or so), you can book back in for a downsize.
Can I sleep on my new piercing?
It's not recommended to sleep on a new piercing as the pressure can cause irritation and even change the angle over time.
My piercing has bumps/irritated/infected, can you help?
